A meeting of the Chairs' Committee will be held at 9.30 a.m. on Thursday 4th September 2008 at Endeavour House, Exeter to consider the following matters.

Any papers listed as "to follow", urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

Meeting agenda

  1. Apologies for Absence
    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
  2. Declarations of Interest
    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests which are required to be published in the minutes of this meeting.
  3. Items Requiring Urgent Attention
    Items which in the opinion of the Chairman should be considered by the meeting as a matter of urgency.
  4. Minutes
    To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 3rd July 2008.
  5. Additional HR Capacity to Support 2012 'Countdown to Excellence'
    To provide an update detailing how the budget allocated to the HR Directorate to support the additional activities required to support the 2012 'Countdown to Excellence' programme is being utilised, together with an outline of ongoing spend.
  6. Draft Health and Safety Policy
    To consider a Health and Safety Policy for the Authority.
  7. Financial Support for Chief Officers and Directors
    Report from the Treasurer for Members to consider recommendations on financial support for Chief Officers and Directors. The current Removal Expenses for Chief Officers policy is also attached

    To discuss and decide dates of future meetings.

  10. Corporate Communications Department: review and steps forward
    Presented action plan following the Corporate Communications Department review.
  11. Update on Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Change Programme
    The three appendices to this covering paper provide an overview of the current content, milestones and schedule for the change programme.
  12. Workforce Modernisation ? Returning 200 Officers to the Frontline
    Report providing an update to Members on the current progress to return 200 Police Officers to frontline roles.
