Chairs Committee

A meeting of the Chairs' Committee will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday 4th September 2009 at Endeavour House, Exeter to consider the following matters.

Any papers listed as "to follow", urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

Meeting agenda

  1. Apologies for Absence
    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
  2. Declarations of Interest
    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests which are required to be published in the minutes of this meeting.
  3. Items Requiring Urgent Attention
    Items which in the opinion of the Chairman should be considered by the meeting as a matter of urgency.
  4. Minutes
    To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 24th July 2009.
  5. Agreement for the Establishment of a Joint Committee for Policing in the South West of England
    It has been suggested that a South West Policing Board is established which makes recommendations to a Police Authorities Joint Committee. The Chief Executive of Wiltshire Police Authority has prepared a draft agreement for the establishment of a Joint Committee for Policing in the South West of England and that agreement is attached to this report for the consideration of the Committee.
  6. 2010 Dates for the Devon and Cornwall Police Authority Chairs' Committee
    Report identifying dates for the Chairs' Committee in 2010.
  7. Carers' Allowance for Members
    Report from the Treasurer recommending that appropriate changes be made to the current Carers' Allowance scheme for Members.
  8. Closed Items(Items which may be considered by the Authority with only members of the Police Authority, appropriate Officers and expert advisors present, on the grounds that exempt / confidential information may be disclosed).

    Oral update for Members on the appointment of a new Chief Executive for the Authority.
