Any papers listed as "to follow", urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting

Meeting agenda

  1. Apologies for Absence
    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
  2. Declarations of Interest
    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests which are required to be published in the minutes of this meeting.
  3. Items Requiring Urgent Attention
    Items which in the opinion of the Chairman should be considered by the meeting as a matter of urgency.
  4. Minutes
    To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 15th January 2010.
  5. Revised Terms of References
    In 2009 both the Diversity & Equality Working Group and the Protecting Vulnerable People Working Group went through a change as a result of a renewed membership. This brought with it a request for a review of its terms of reference.?Attached are the new terms of references recommended for adoption.

  6. Diversity & Equality Scrutiny and Governance
    At the last Diversity & Equality working group meeting, members discussed the Authority's role with regards to the appropriate levels of scrutiny and governance within this particular area of business. Some of these questions are fundamental and reach far wider than just the Equality arena and it was therefore decided to bring these issues to the attention of the Chairs' Committee in its capacity as "advisory body" as outlined in the Authority's constitution.

  7. Independent Member Recruitment
    Report recommending that a Task and Finish group be convened to pull together information about the skills, knowledge and experience within the membership, and the objectives of the Authority, to give a clearer picture of what the Authority wants from its membership and the knowledge gaps therein to inform the Independent Selection Panel in their advertising of the appointment and the short-listing of Independent Members.

    Closed Items (Items which may be considered by the Authority with only members of the Police Authority, appropriate Officers and expert advisors present, on the grounds that exempt / confidential information may be disclosed).
