A meeting of the Human Resources Committee, which you are requested to attend, will be held on 26 June 2007 at 10:00hrs in the Conference Room, Devon and Cornwall Police Authority, Endeavour House, Woodwater Park, Exeter, to consider the items as detailed on the Agenda given below.

    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.

    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests.

    To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 9 May 2007.
  6. Long Term Sickness Profile
    This report provides a summarised update on the long term sickness (100 Days +) within the Force as at the financial year end, 31st March 2007

  7. Force Improvement Plan - Improving Attendance Management
    Following the identification of an increasing absence trend by the Performance Improvement and Tasking Group, Human Resources were asked to develop a Force Improvement Plan. The Performance Improvement and Tasking Group approved the final version of the Force Improvement Plan on 22nd May 2007. The report presents the Improvement Plan to the Committee.

  8. Baseline Assessment
    The 2006 HMIC baseline assessment of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary assessed delivery of the Human Resources function as "poor. The report is accompanied by an action plan summarising progress and intended activity against identified areas for improvement.

  9. Fairness at Work Policy Amendment
    The report suggests an amendment to the Fairness at Work Policy to establish a separate process for grievances relating to job evaluation appeals.

  10. Best Value Review of Police Training - Police Authority Update
    The Committee are provided with an update on actions following the Best Value Review of Police Training.
  11. HR Learning and Development Improvement Plan
    The Committee are asked to consider the HR Learning and Development Improvement Plan.
