Performance Management Committee

A meeting of the Performance Management Committee,to which you are requested to attend, will be held on Tuesday 26 September 2006 at 1000hrs in the Conference Room, Devon and Cornwall Police Authority, Endeavour House, Woodwater Park, Exeter, to consider the items as detailed on the Agenda given below.

Any papers listed as “to follow”, urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

  1. Apologies for Absence
    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
  2. Declarations of Interests
    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests.
  3. Minutes
    To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 31 July 2006 as a correct record.
  4. Police Performance Management in the Current Environment
    A debate to agree the Committee’s priorities for managing performance over the forthcoming year. The Committee’s priorities for 2005/06 were (i) Maintain the drive for the significant improvement in Force forensics performance, (ii) to increase accountability for BCU performance to the Authority, and (iii) Provide a greater level of challenge and scrutiny to reports presented to the Committee.
    The discussion will centre around the Association of Police Authorities’ document entitled ‘Police Performance Management: Practical Guidance for Police Authorities’, attached.This item to include a presentation from the Chairman and Acting Deputy Chief Constable, to follow
  5. Force Forensics Management and Performance
    This item includes
    1. a report on current forensic management performance in South and West Devon Basic Command Unit, and
    2. an update of recommendations emanating from the Force Forensic Project.
  6. Performance against the Annual Policing Plan (Targets)
    This item will include details of the Force’s performance towards the annual targets for the year to date
  7. HMIC BCU Inspection Process – Going Local 3
    A report to inform Members of the BCU Inspection process to be adopted by HMIC with effect from October 2006.
  8. Domestic Violence:
    A Review of Brought to Justice Outcomes

    An analysis to identify potential improvements for brought to justice outcomes in respect of domestic violence.
