A meeting of the Performance Management Committee, to which you are requested to attend, will be held on Wednesday 26 November 2008 at 1000hrs in the Conference Room, Devon and Cornwall Police Authority, Endeavour House, Woodwater Park, Exeter, to consider the items as detailed on the Agenda given below.

Any papers listed as “to follow”, urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

  1. Apologies for Absence 
    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
  2. Declarations of Interests
    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests.
  3. Minutes
    To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 10 September 2008 as a correct record.
  4. Performance Summary
    This presentation provides details of Force performance against the Policing Plan Targets with an emphasis on sanctioned detections. It will show the mid-year position and illustrate the performance requirements needed for the remainder of the year in order to meet target.
    This will also include an update on the inaugural meeting of the Forensics Task and Finish Group.
  5. Most Serious Violent Crime
    This paper updates Members with progress towards the target to reduce most serious violence. It also outlines recent clarification by the Home Office in relation to certain crime recording practices.
    An update from the Lead Member for the National Crime Recording Standard and the National Standard of Incident Recording.
  7. The Policing Pledge & Crime Mapping
    This report provides information on the Constabulary’s approach to implementing the Policing Pledge and crime mapping, two initiatives proposed by the recent policing Green Paper.
  8. The Single Home Office Target & Local Target Setting 09/10
    This report outlines the Home Office’s proposed single top-down public confidence target for policing. It also looks at how the local Force targets for 2009 onwards could be negotiated to complement this.

  9. Force Strategic Assessment
    This brief presentation, to follow, will provide Members with details of the preparation and findings from the latest Strategic Assessment, an analysis of the community safety problems affecting the area.
