Professional Standards and Complaints Monitoring Committee Meeting - Wednesday 6 July 2011

A meeting of the Professional Standards and Complaints Monitoring Committee will be held on Wednesday 6 July 2011, at 10:00 hrs in to which you are requested to attend, to consider the items as detailed on the Agenda given below.

This meeting will be broadcast live on the Internet and recorded for future viewing.

Any papers listed as “to follow”, urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

  1. Appointment of Chair
    As this is the annual meeting of the Committee, the first business is to appoint the Chair and Vice Chair for 2011-12.

    To recieve any apologies for Members unable to attend the meeting.
  4. Declarations of Interest
    To recieve any declarations from Members/Officers of personal and/or prejudicial interest in respect of matters of consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests.

  7. Professional Standards and Complaints Monitoring Committee
    Each Committee has been asked to compile a workplan based upon their contribution to delivery of the Authority's Strategic Plan. The Committee's workplan agreed at the last meeting, has been updated as has the Committee Risk Register. The workplan and all its supporting documents are presented to the Committee for further consideration.

  8. Complaints Factsheet
    With the inception of the Professional Standards and Complaints Monitoring Committee, a thorough review has taken place of the way that the Authority deals with complaints and the information it makes available to the public. A factsheet which provides information about how to make a complaint, who can make a complaint and what can be complained about and a flowchart detailing the process that will take place when the Authority has received a complaint, have been designed and are presented to the Committee for approval.

  16. Study of Case Files
    This is an opportunity for Members to provide general feedback, make comments and raise issues arising from the dip sampling session.
  17. Consideration to exclude the Press and Public from Closed Items
    Items which may be considered by the Committee with only members of the Police Authority, appropriate Officers and expert advisors present, on the grounds that exempt/confidential information may be disclosed.
  18. Suspended and Restricted duties personnel
    This report gives details of Force Personnel who are currently suspended from duty, or have restrictions imposed upon their duties.
  19. Referrals to the IPCC
    This report includes a quarterly update in relations to complaints referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC)
