Standards Committee Agenda

A meeting of the Standards Committee will be held on Tuesday 19 April 2005
at 2.00pm in the Conference Room, at the Police Authority Offices, Endeavour
House, Woodwater Park, Exeter, to consider the items as detailed on the
Agenda given below.
Any papers listed as “to follow”, urgent items or supplementary
papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least
30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

- Apologies for Absence
To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
- Declarations of Interests
To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or
prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting,
together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared
Committee Amendments to Terms of Reference and the Authority’s Standing
A number of legislative changes have taken place since the instigation of
the Standards Committee which affect the way it operates. The reports outline
these changes and recommends that the Committee’s terms of reference
be amended to enable it to work effectively. Report 3(i) deals with legislation
and guidance referring specifically to Standards Committees, and Report
3(ii) with information request appeals made under the Freedom of Information
Board for England Consultation on the Code of Conduct for Members
This report details responses from Authority Members to the consultation.
- Standards Board for England Roadshows 2005
The Standards Board for England are holding a number of roadshows throughout
the country and the Authority has the opportunity to send 3 delegates free
of charge. The Committee is asked to nominate the attendees. Details of
the roadshows are attached to the Agenda.
- Standards Board for England Fourth Annual Assembly of Standards Committees
The fourth annual assembly will take place in Birmingham on 5-6 September
2005.The Committee is asked to nominate 2 people to attend.

M Harvey, and M Nevitt.
