Standards Committee Agenda

A meeting of the Standards Committee will be held on Tuesday 22 April 2008 at 1000hrs in the Conference Room, at the Police Authority Offices, Endeavour House, Woodwater Park, Exeter, to consider the items as detailed on the Agenda given below.

Any papers listed as "to follow", urgent items or supplementary papers will be made available as soon as possible and in any event at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting.

  1. Apologies for Absence
    To receive apologies for absence from Members unable to attend the meeting.
  2. Declarations of Interests
    To receive any declarations from Members / Officers of personal and / or prejudicial interests in respect of matters for consideration at this meeting, together with the appropriate statement on the nature of any such declared interests.
  3. Minutes
    A) To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 30 October 2007as a correct record
    B) To confirm the minutes of the special meeting held 29 January 2008 as a correct record.
  4. Report on South West Independent Members Group Meeting ? 28 March 2008
    Mrs Anne Mayes attended the attended the meeting and her notes are provided for the information of the Committee.
  5. Update on Standards Board Assembly 2008
    The annual assembly will take place in October 2008. The Committee Chair is on the Assembly steering group and will provide an oral update on the plans including information about a specific session aimed at non-council organisations who have Standards Committees.
  6. Joint Working
    An oral update will be provided on the responses to letters sent to other organisations with regard to joint working.
  7. Standards Committee Best Practice / Compliance Check list
    A compliance checklist for the Standards Committee has been compiled based upon an Audit Commission diagnostic tool. The checklist is presented to the Committee for consideration as requested (minute SC39 refers).
  8. Case Studies
    The Assistant Chief Executive will have some case studies available from the pilots of the Local Filtering process that members may discuss.
